Frequently asked questions

These will grow as we hear what songwriters most want to know. For now, here are a few starter questions and answers — real FAQs will land after the first pilot round wraps and we know what people are actually asking.

What is a SONGREPS Group, and how does it work?

A SONGREPS Group is a 6-week online writing community. Each week, you submit something you wrote — a full song, a chorus, an instrumental sketch, even a 30-second voice memo recorded in your closet. Whatever you’ve got, you turn it in. The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is putting in the reps.

If you miss a week, you’re tenderly, gently, and lovingly removed from the group — and you can jump back in the next round.

Do I need to be a professional songwriter to join?

Not at all. SONGREPS Groups exist for songwriters at every stage — people writing their first song, people writing their five-hundredth, and everyone in between. What matters is that you write, you’re willing to put songs into the world, and you’d love to write alongside a community.

How much does it cost to be in a writing group?

Nothing. There’s no cost to participate in a SONGREPS Group. The community runs on the generosity of hosts who volunteer their time. If you want to support what we’re doing in other ways — sharing your songs, encouraging fellow writers, eventually maybe even hosting your own cohort — those are the ways we grow.
